Thousands of fans flocked to participate in the interactive volleyball activities
Today, on the first day of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, the Volleyball Experiences kicked off with a spectacular start. Thousands of fans flocked to participate in the interactive volleyball activities, eager to replicate the actions of their sporting heroes competing just next door.
The FIVB and FIVB Volleyball Foundation have launched the groundbreaking Volleyball Experiences in Paris, where fans can enhance their already unforgettable trip through engaging with interactive volleyball activities. From a full-size professional volleyball court mock-up to a serve simulator, the activities are designed to ensure a fully immersive and memorable time at the Games.
One excited fan shared, “It’s great to be able to play with people I’ve just met; it was so much fun.”
Another enthused, “It’s amazing to try out all the parts of volleyball, jumping higher and serving faster; we loved it.”
Several athlete ambassadors, including Olympic medallists and world champions from around the globe, as well as French legends of the game, are present at the Experiences throughout the competition to engage with fans. Two-time Asian Championships gold medallist Nootsara Tomkom shared her thoughts: “Volleyball really is just a big family… it’s great to see people connect from all around the world.”
A heartwarming moment occurred when a fan was emotionally reunited with former Olympic and World champion Giba, his “hero,” whom he had met many years ago as a young boy.
Another athlete ambassador, European League gold medallist Sam Deroo, remarked, “I think the fans have really enjoyed it, and it’s crazy to think that we have 11 to 12,000 spectators here today who can enjoy it.”
Volunteers play a crucial role in making these experiences memorable. Abdelkoddous Khamsi, a volunteer and club volleyball player, said, “It’s so fun to see people of all ages playing volleyball on the same court. That’s what I’m here for, and I’m loving it.”
These Volleyball Experiences are a fantastic celebration of the sport and its community as fans of all ages and backgrounds come together to enjoy volleyball.
